Southeast Asia

Map - Southeast Asia (Large)Southeast Asia proper consists of eleven countries.  Often referred to as a salad bowl of peoples, cultures, languages, and religions, each Southeast Asian country brings unique challenges in their own right.

Diversity!!  This would likely be an outsider’s strongest impression of the Southeast Asia at first glance.  With their native homelands spread over several zones and divided with the equator, its geographical diversity is immediately apparent.  Vast expanses of untouched tropical rainforest in Papua New Guinea, and lush rice fields as far as the eye can see in Thailand are but a few examples of the natural beauty of their homelands.  Economically their countries range from some of the world’s poorest countries to some of world’s richest.  Technologically you will find everything ranging from remote villages in Indonesia with no electricity to the modern city state of Singapore where almost every aspect of life is intertwined with hi-tech wizardry.  Ethnically, Southeast Asia is home to a pletora of ethnic groups, each with its own unique identity, culture, language, and worldview.
